Every Beat Saber player hits the same wall sooner or later. The song you really want to play isn't on BeatSaver, or it is, but the map feels off. Making your own the traditional way means learning an editor and spending an evening placing blocks one by one.
This free tool skips all of that. You upload an MP3, answer a few simple questions, and a couple of minutes later you download a finished map as a zip file, ready to drop into the game.
What you get
The zip contains a complete custom level: your song converted to the audio format Beat Saber expects, a cover image, the info file, and a map for each difficulty you pick, anywhere from Easy to Expert+. Blocks, bombs, walls, arcs and light effects are all included unless you decide to switch some of them off.
Under the hood the tool listens to your track, works out the tempo and where the beats fall, and then builds the map around them. It is an automatic mapper, so think of the result as a solid, playable starting point rather than something a human mapper spent a week polishing.
How to use it
It takes about a minute to set up.
- Choose your MP3. It can be up to 4 minutes long and 12 MB in size.
- Type the artist name. The song name is optional, and if you leave it empty the tool uses the file name.
- Tick the difficulties you want. Fewer difficulties means a faster result and a smaller download.
- Press Generate Beat Saber Map and wait. If someone else is generating a map at that moment you will see your place in the queue and an estimated waiting time. Keep the page open while you wait.
- When it says your map is ready, press download.
If you are not sure what a setting does, open the What do these options mean? section right under the form. Every option is explained there in plain words.
The settings worth knowing about
Most people can leave everything at the defaults, but a few options are worth a look.
NJS is how fast the blocks fly toward you. Higher is faster and leaves less time to react. NPS is the number of blocks per second, which is how busy the map feels. If a difficulty feels too easy or too hard, these two numbers are the first thing to change.
Environment only changes the scenery around you while you play. It doesn't affect the blocks.
Tempo mode tells the tool how to treat the speed of the song. Auto works for most songs. If your song is live, or speeds up and slows down, try the variable setting. If the blocks seem to move twice as fast or half as fast as the music, type the correct BPM yourself in the advanced options.
The advanced section also lets you remove bombs, walls, arcs or lights, and set a random seed. Using the same seed with the same settings gives you the same map again, while leaving it empty gives you a different layout each time.
Putting the map in the game
Unzip the download and copy the folder into the CustomLevels folder inside your Beat Saber installation. Start the game and look for the song under Custom Songs. Custom songs need a modded PC version of the game. If you haven't set that up before, ModAssistant is the usual way to do it.
The map is a standard Beat Saber level, so you can also open it in a mapping tool such as ChroMapper and adjust anything you don't like.
A few honest notes
Automatic maps are great for playing songs that nobody has mapped, for practice, and for having fun with your own music. They won't match the flow of a map made by hand by a good mapper, and that's fine. If a result doesn't feel right, run it again with another seed, a different tempo mode, or a lower NPS.
Only one map is generated at a time so the server doesn't get overloaded, and each visitor can have one map in progress. Please use music you are allowed to use.
What happens to your files
Your MP3 and your cover image are used only to build your map. As soon as your download finishes, everything belonging to your job is deleted from the server. If you never come back to download it, the files are removed automatically after a short time anyway.
Languages
The tool is available in English, Arabic and Spanish. You can switch with the links above the form.
Quick questions
Is it free? Yes.
Can I paste a YouTube link instead of uploading a file? No, it works with MP3 files only.
How long does it take? Usually a couple of minutes for an average song, longer when there is a queue. The page shows an estimate while you wait.
Why was my file rejected? The most common reasons are a file that isn't a real MP3, a song longer than 4 minutes or shorter than 10 seconds, or a file bigger than 12 MB.
Can I make the map harder or easier? Yes. Change the NJS and NPS values for any difficulty before you generate.
Give it a try with your favorite song, and enjoy the new map.
